Considerations for Teaching at Providence
- Providence Academy operates on a distinctive academic calendar, with approximately 68 instructional days for elementary students and 102 days for secondary students. This model reflects an intentional partnership between school and home, resulting in approximately 102 hours of instruction per course each academic year.
- In light of this structure, faculty must steward class time with diligence and purpose, ensuring that essential content is taught with clarity and efficiency. Teachers are expected to thoughtfully guide students through a rigorous course of study, covering material at a pace that reflects both academic excellence and intentionality.
- Faithful record-keeping is an essential component of this work and includes maintaining accurate attendance, lesson plans, and assignment guides to support student progress and accountability.
- Recognizing parents as co-laborers in the education of their children, Providence Academy establishes clear and consistent expectations for communication between faculty and families. Such communication should reflect charity, clarity, and mutual respect.
- Within grades PK–12, parents serve in the role of “guides for dependent study,” reinforcing instruction at home through practice and support as directed by the classroom teacher. This partnership is vital to the success of the Providence model and the formation of the student.
- As part of the Providence community, faculty families benefit from tuition support, reflecting the school’s commitment to investing in those who labor in its mission.
